Trump tells NBC to correct report he’s limiting FBI probe for Kavanaugh. It’s a false liberal talking point.

Following President Donald Trump’s rally Saturday evening in Wheeling, West Virginia, he took to Twitter to blast NBC News for reporting false information about the investigation he had authorized into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

“NBC News incorrectly reported (as usual) that I was limiting the FBI investigation of Judge Kavanaugh, and witnesses, only to certain people. Actually, I want them to interview whoever they deem appropriate, at their discretion. Please correct your reporting!” he wrote.

When the president first announced an investigation into claims of sexual assault against Kavanaugh, he said only that the investigation “must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week” as per the Senate’s requests.

Two days later NBC reportedly cited anonymous sources within the White House to suggest that the president was forcing the FBI to only investigate the allegations made by accusers Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez, not Julie Swetnick.

In a follow-up report published after Trump’s tweet Saturday, the left-media media outlet appeared to double down, writing, “Instead of investigating Swetnick’s claims, the White House counsel’s office has given the FBI a list of witnesses they are permitted to interview, according to several people who discussed the parameters on the condition of anonymity.”

“They characterized the White House instructions as a significant constraint on the FBI investigation and caution that such a limited scope, while not unusual in normal circumstances, may make it difficult to pursue additional leads in a case in which a Supreme Court nominee has been accused of sexual assault.”

It’s unclear why NBC would report the musings of anonymous officials even after the president and his spokesman had explicitly denied that he’s somehow limiting the FBI’s investigation into Kavanaugh.

“The scope and duration has been set by the Senate. The White House is letting the FBI agents do what they are trained to do,” White House spokesman Raj Shah told Fox News earlier Saturday.

Moreover, The New York Times’ own anonymous sources disputed NBC’s claim about Swetnick’s allegations, ironically enough.

“Investigators will interview one of the witnesses, a high school friend of Judge Kavanaugh’s named Mark Judge, about Ms. Swetnick’s accusations,” the Times reported Saturday evening, citing its own anonymous sources.

Swetnick’s attorney, creepy porn lawyer Michael Avenatti, has also been seen touting the false claim that the president has purposefully limited the FBI’s investigation:

The sort of nitpicking rhetoric seen from Avenatti and his left-wing media allies Saturday fit an emerging pattern. Some leftists have already begun questioning the legitimacy of the FBI’s investigation and even the bureau’s credibility, all in what appears to be a bid to set up talking points in case Kavanaugh is ultimately exonerated.

Social media users reacted to NBC’s latest incorrect report by accusing it of peddling “fake news“:
