Sheriff Clarke says Gillum not tough enough to be Fla gov after crybaby ‘monkey’ reaction: ‘Guy is a wimp’

Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke has some advice for Democrat Florida gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum: Suck it up, sunshine.

“If Florida candidate for gov Andrew Gillum is offended by reference to the word ‘monkey’ then he’s not TOUGH enough and doesn’t have the metal to be governor of Florida,” he bluntly wrote on Twitter Friday evening, referencing the ongoing “monkey this up” non-scandal scandal.

“Politics is a contact sport,” he added. “GUY IS A WIMP. Look at what @realDonaldTrump has to endure from the left everyday.”

Clarke’s tweet referenced all the whiny hoopla that broke out this week after Gillum’s challenger, Rep. Ron DeSantis, benignly used the phrase “monkey it up” during a discussion on Fox News about building on the economic success of current Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

“We have to work hard to make sure we continue Florida going in a good direction,” DeSantis said. “Let’s build off the success of Governor Scott. The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state. That is not going to work, that’s not going to be good for Florida.”

His completely innocent use of the phrase “monkey it up” triggered widespread leftist outrage, including from Gillum himself, who first accused DeSantis of trying to divide Florida voters.

“We’re better than this in Florida. I believe the congressman can be better than this. I regret that his mentor in politics is Donald Trump, but I do believe that voters of the state of Florida are going to reject the politics of division,” he initially said.

“In the handbook of Donald Trump, they no longer do whistle calls — they’re now using full bullhorns,” he added during an appearance Wednesday on Fox News. “I’m not going to get down in the gutter with DeSantis and Trump. There’s enough of that going on. I’m going to try to stay high.”

Listen:

Acting like a crybaby over an innocuous phrase is not “staying high” — it’s acting like a indigenous hack. Is Gillum pining to become Florida’s next governor or a CNN “journalist!?”

Now contrast DeSantis’ otherwise non-offensive remark with the hateful rhetoric constantly lodged President Donald Trump’s way by everyone from Democrat politicians like Gillum to mainstream media reporters, Hollywood celebrities and everyday Democrat voters.

Remember this humdinger from the Tony Awards back in June?

There’s nothing innocuous, benign and harmless about this sort of hateful rhetoric, but the president puts up with it anyway. Yet Gillum can’t even handle his challenger using an idiom that had nothing to do with him? Sheesh. Maybe Clarke’s right — maybe Gillum really is a wimp!
