Strzok firing changes everything: Trump calls on courts to shut down ‘corrupt’ probe

President Donald Trump was firing one tweet after another early Tuesday, ripping into fired FBI official Peter Strzok and the “rigged” Mueller investigation, asking why it has not been shut down.

Saying he “couldn’t have said it better,” Trump quoted Tom Fitton, of Judicial Watch, saying the firing of the disgraced FBI agent shows the “fundamental underpinnings of the [Robert Mueller] investigation were corrupt” and that it should be “shut down by the courts.”

Trump paraphrased Fittons remarks in a series of tweets:

“The Strzok firing is as much about the Mueller operation as anything else. There would be no Mueller Special Councel to investigate so-called collusion but for the machinations of Strzok & his colleagues at the top levels of the FBI. We know this…

“guy was corrupt and had anti-Trump animus. Strzok and others at the FBI should be criminally investigated for the way the conducted this investigation. Instead, Mueller is pretending nothing went wrong. He used Strzok, he used the Clinton DNC Dossier…the whole thing….

“…should be shut down. The Strzok firing shows that the fundamental underpinnings of the investigation were corrupt. It should be shut down by the courts or by honest prosecutors.”

Fitton released a statement on Monday calling for the Mueller investigation to be shut down.

“The firing of Peter Strzok is another body blow to the credibility of the Mueller special counsel operation,” the statement said. “Strzok, who hated President Trump, compromised both the Clinton and Trump investigations that saw Hillary Clinton protected and Donald Trump illicitly targeted. Strzok’s anti-Trump texts show the Russia investigation he helped invent with Clinton campaign operatives is irredeemably compromised. As Mueller’s operation is founded on Strzok’s corrupt activities, it must be shut down.”

The Judicial Watch president echoed that sentiment in an appearance on Fox News.

“It’s long overdue and it’s a body blow to the Mueller investigation,” Fitton said of the firing of Strzok.

President Trump also shared a tweet from Fox News’ Lou Dobbs saying the Mueller probe “cannot go forward.”

“Thank you Lou, so true,” the president added.

Not finished, Trump  quoted “Fox & Friends” Greg Jarrett as saying he was framed, as the president took a not-so-veiled shot at Attorney General Jess Sessions.

“If we had a real Attorney General, this Witch Hunt would never have been started!” he tweeted.

In yet another tweet, Trump ripped Strzok again as a “fraud,” insisting the Russian collusion investigation was “rigged.”

“[W]hy isn’t this so-called “probe” ended immediately” he asked, in conclusion.
