President Trump renews ‘biting sanctions’ against Iran, Rouhani fires back and demands decades of ‘compensation’

President Donald Trump took to social media to tout new sanctions against Iran that went into effect at midnight as “the most biting sanctions ever imposed.”

The president also warned that countries that choose to do business with Tehran will not do business with the U.S., adding that he’s acting in the interests of “world peace.”

Ironically, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sounded like he borrowed a page from the progressive left’s “critical race theory” playbook in America, calling for reparations for decades of American “intervention in Iran” as a precursor for a new deal.

“If the U.S. government is ready to negotiate about paying compensation to the Iranian nation from 1953 until now,” Rouhani said, according to Fox News. “The U.S owes the Iranian nation for its intervention in Iran.”

Who knew the Iranians are so fond of pallets of cash being flown in — other than Barack Obama, of course.

Trump has repeatedly vowed to withdraw from the Iranian nuclear deal negotiated by the Obama administration, but is open to negotiating a new deal with the Persian Gulf country.

“This was a horrible, one-sided deal that should have never ever been made,” he said. “… The Iran deal is defective at its core.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., appeared on Fox News to say the president will force countries to “pick” who they want to do business with.

“Trump has made a decision that the nuclear deal with Iran was terrible for the world, terrible for the United States,” Graham stated. “And he’s going to reimpose sanctions until Iran changes its behavior.”

The sanctions drew support from other Republican leaders, as seen in a tweet from House Majority Whip, Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La.

“I applaud President Trump’s action to stand up to the Iranian regime’s sponsorship of terrorism, and its aggression in the Middle East,” Scalise tweeted.
