Despite the media’s insistence to the contrary, President Donald Trump’s threat to revoke the security clearances of Obama-era officials like former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper was a smart move, senior intelligence officials claim.
“Under some Obama-era intelligence chiefs, intelligence was used as a political weapon. We need to root that out, not reward it,” one unnamed official said during a recent interview with investigative reporter Lee Smith of RealClearPolitics.
The anonymous official argued though that the “rollout of the policy” could have been better. Thus far, it’s consisted only of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announcing in late July that the president was considering revoking the clearances of Brennan, Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, former NSA Director Michael Hayden, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
As of early August, the White House had still not taken any concrete measures toward actually revoking the clearances, leading some to speculate whether the president had merely been trolling. Judging by Lee’s interviews with several intelligence officials, however, it seems clear many in the intelligence community would like the Trump administration to go ahead and revoke the clearances.
“The very people who are now talking the most know the details of how the Flynn intercept was leaked. They wouldn’t be out talking like that if they’d been interviewed by the FBI,” another senior official said.
The official’s point was that the most vocal supporters of special counsel Robert Mueller’s scandal-plagued investigation seem to be former Obama-era officials like Brennan and Clapper, who now use their positions as mainstream media contributors to constantly bash the president.
It’s former officials like these two who seem to be know-it-alls in regard to the deepest details of Mueller’s cases against Trump and his officials, including former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Is this a coincidence or conspiracy?
The most pressing concern, all the officials argued, is that all of the classified information that’s been leaked to the media over the past two years has come from Brennan and Clapper.
“If they still have clearances, former colleagues still active may be passing them information,” one official said. “The situation is ripe for abuse.”
Why then should they be trusted with security clearances?
Why Brennan Should NOT have Access To Classified Inf.
As a former director of the CIA he not only has contacts within the organization that can leak inf. He personally still holds clearance to access classified CIA files. As well as unlimited access to Public Records @POTUS pic.twitter.com/etcLefbUOK— ?Evon? (@EvonS777) August 1, 2018
Ask yourself this question:
How many of the damaging classified leaks (real & fake info) by the Media’s “Anonymous Intelligence Official” source were planted by:
Rice
Comey
Clapper
McCabe
Brennan
HaydenLosing clearance should be the least of these traitors worries.

Security clearances are meant to be temporary! Not portable fringe benefits for intelligence officers to MONETIZE classified information indefinitely—Brennan, Clapper & Hayden are TV pundits PAID by MSM to leak info & may jeopardize national security. #RevokeSecurityClearances pic.twitter.com/cm28x1yhPH

If you aren’t in a job that requires a security clearance you should not have it. that will limit the chances that classified information would get into the wrong hands via leaks to media or other espionage acts (Brennan, Clapper, Comey proven leakers).

Plus, what are the chances Trump will ever call on them for any sort of assistance, another official wondered: “The Trump administration is not going to call in Susan Rice for advice, nevermind John Brennan. And if someone does get called in from a previous administration they can get a temporary clearance, akin to a one-day non-disclosure agreement.”
All in all, it makes no sense for them to keep their security clearances. And while it’s true that most in the media disagree, they’re not the ones who matter.
