According to the predominantly left-wing media, President Donald Trump has, over the course of his presidency, repeatedly suggested to his aides that disrespectful reporters should be banned from White House events.
“These people shouting questions are the worst. Why do we have them in here?” the president allegedly once said, according to anonymous Trump administration officials cited by The Washington Post. “Is there nothing that we could do?”
Of the many reporters who’ve allegedly irritated the president, CNN’s Jim Acosta and April Ryan have in particular been the bane of his existence, the Post claimed. Might this be because of these two’s willingness to breach any protocol for attention or ratings?
Here’s just one of many examples:
The Post’s report dropped only days after the White House effectively banned another CNN correspondent, Kaitlin Collins, from a Rose Garden event because of her behavior.
At a photo-op with Trump and the president of the European Commission drew to a close Wednesday, Collins reportedly began yelling questions unrelated to the event at hand.
Listen:
Some in the left-wing media are now using both what happened Wednesday and the Post’s report to bolster their dubious narrative that the president hosts dictator-like tendencies.
“The White House today banned CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins from an open press event fits perfectly with the news that Trump was outraged when he saw Melania watching CNN on Air Force One. This is the behavior of a dictator,” Keith Boykin, a political commentator for CNN (who else?), asserted on social media Wednesday.
More outrage from the left-wing media may be seen below:

Siren – my kick ass colleague @kaitlancollins was banned from an open press event for asking legit questions of the president on behalf of the 5 network pool. As a former White House reporter and as an American – this is outrageous and highly alarming.

As today’s radio pooler, I was in the Oval Office with @kaitlancollins, heard her questions, thought they were good and timely ones, and find an official government sanction in response to them an absolute, stunning outrage.

In statement, White House @PressSec acknowledges barring CNN reporter @kaitlancollins because she “shouted questions and refused to leave” Oval Office at end of pool spray. If that’s the standard, they will have to bar every member of the press pool since that’s what all of us do

What’s odd about this emerging narrative is that it contrasts the way the left-wing media behaved during former President Barack Hussein Obama’s eight year reign in office.
During a broadcast of his radio program this week, conservative commentator Rush Limbaugh recalled what happened in June of 2012 after Neil Munro, a reporter with The Daily Caller, pestered Obama with questions even after the then-president specifically told the press, “No questions, no questions, no questions.”
“The press corps itself chased this guy all the way to the Washington Monument. They ran him out of the event. They told him that he was an embarrassment to the press corps. They made a move to never let him back into the White House correspondence pool here covering the action at the White House,” Limbaugh said.
“They literally chased the guy out of the Rose Garden, and here is a montage we put together of journalists talking about how rude the behavior was on the part of Neil Munro, and we start with Julian Epstein.”
Here’s that montage below:
As far as the media’s concerned, it was never OK for reporters to harangue Obama with questions. In regards to Trump and his top officials, however, it’s perfectly fine to badger them with questions, no matter how inappropriate the time and place.
This is called hypocrisy, and it’s both a veritable mainstay of the predominantly left-wing media and one of a myriad of reasons so few Americans trust them anymore.
