MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough fancies himself a respected voice in conservative circles, but that’s a view held by few Republicans, numbers that are likely to shrink even further after Scarborough unleashed on the party in the wake of President Trump’s press conference in Helsinki.
“The president of the United States is under the thumb of Putin. And the Republican Party he leads no longer deserves to survive,” Scarborough declared in a Washington Post op-ed.
Scarborough was reacting to a poll that shows 79 percent of Republicans approve of how Trump handled the press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, a ripe topic of discussion on Friday’s show.
“Morning Joe” contributor Donny Deutsche took it further, launching a blistering person attack on the show, “Shame on these pathetic, whimpering little cowards.”
Deutsche echoed the sentiment of many on the left, essentially calling on the president to declare war on Russia for meddling in our elections, which Deutsche characterized as “an act of war” no different than a missile attack.
Picking up on the left’s “treason” narrative, he called Trump a “treasonous president,” apparently because Trump doesn’t embark on World War Three.
Scarborough declared that by backing Trump, who’s “doing Vladimir Putin’s bidding,” Republicans are “embracing Putin… and Putin’s agenda.”
Contributor John Heilemann chimed in to declare “there is no Republican Party anymore in any sense that you would have defined the Republican Party ten years ago.”
Of course, ten years ago, Republicans nominated Sen. John McCain as their choice to take on a brash young senator from Illinois.
That the anti-Trump crowd doesn’t grasp how overly dramatic and hyperbolic they have become in their desperation to destroy this president is a marvel unto itself.
The timing of the Morning Joe venting session was especially ironic given a recent Gallup poll that signaled Americans couldn’t care less about Russia, literally. The findings that polled 1,033 people from July 1 to July 11 showed that out of 37 problems facing America, Russia didn’t even rank on the ratings scale.

Of course, being called a “whimpering coward” by the likes of the “Morning Joe” crew is considered “a badge of honor” for some social media users.
Here’s a quick sampling of responses from Twitter:

The GOP is not only “surviving,” it’s flourishing, while the Democrat party is dying a slow, but steady, death and will be the Socialist party in the near future. America doesn’t want socialism, it wants good jobs and a strong economy, which everyone knows that socialism kills.
