French facepalm: motorcyclists drive right into each other in front of president during choreographed Bastile Day parade

President Macron and his wife, Brigitte, were celebrating Bastille Day, France’s biggest holiday of the year when suddenly the festivities turned into mayhem.

As they watched the holiday parade, four police motorcyclist from the Royal Guard merged together in what was a planned routine, when two of the cyclist collided with each other knocking the bikes and the officers to the ground.

The ceremony performed annually celebrates the storming of the Bastille fortress, a political prison, in 1789, an event which sparked the French Revolution.

The embarrassing accident sparked some humorous responses from Twitter:
