Dem pollster says Trump’s in stronger political position that critics expected. Libs need to adjust.

And we wonder why Democrats appear to be at their wit’s end and are becoming more unhinged than ever?

A Democratic pollster warned that President Donald Trump is in a stronger political position than his critics may realize.

Mark Penn, the chairman of the Harris Poll, appeared on The Hill’s “What’s America Thinking” to sound the alarm that when it comes to Trump, people need to “adjust” their thinking “to the reality of what’s going on in the country.”

“About six months ago,” Penn told host Joe Concha, “we all thought ‘Oh Trump, he’s going to be in the 30s, the economy was going to be in the tank,’ and in fact, none of that has happened. So you really have to adjust our models and our thinking to the reality of what’s going on in the country.”

Penn, a former aide on Hillary Clinton‘s Senate campaign and 2008 presidential run, noted that, unlike past presidents, Trump’s numbers are ticking up ahead of the 2018 midterm elections.

A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll released last month has the president’s approval rating ticking up to 47 percent from 45 percent in May, and Penn compared those numbers to past presidents, specifically naming Barack Obama.

“For almost all presidents, and for Obama, they start out after inauguration really high, and Trump didn’t do that because the country never came together,” Penn said.

“Then Obama sunk straight down until the midterms but that’s not what’s happening to Trump,” he added. “Trump is, in fact, ticking up – going up – into the midterms.”

GOP pollster Conor Maguire, in an appearance last week, may have touched on why that is when he told Concha that Trump is going to be Trump “because that’s who he is.”

Adding to the angst on the left, he said Trump’s approval ratings are not changing anytime soon.

“If you take a look at where he’s been this entire time compared to other presidents, he sits right in this zone that he’s always been in,” Maquire said. “So despite how volatile things may seem […] he still maintains this steady approval rating. That’s not changing.”
