Chris Hahn, former adviser to Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and GOPAC chair David Avella went at it on Fox News’ “Justice with Judge Jeanine” over the difference between “civic chaos” and civic engagement.
The panelists were responding to President Donald Trump ridiculing Sen. Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren about taking a DNA test to prove her claim of Native American heritage when things got real heated.
Hahn brought up civility when he said Trump’s mocking was “the most uncivilized thing I have seen,” as he laid cover for Warren’s seemingly dishonest assertion.
Avella countered by pointing to “civic chaos” from Democrats such as Rep. Maxine Waters, who called for a campaign of harassment and intimidation against Trump administration officials.
“Chris, continue pushing civic chaos,” he said. “That will only ensure Republicans pick of the Senate this year, and President Trump on his way to reelection in 2020.”
This prompted Hahn to fire back, “Civic chaos is what happened in Charlottesville, when a right-wing nut drove his car into a crowd and killed somebody.”
He went on to say that people protesting and marching in the street because they are “agitated by the policies this president has done” is civic engagement, and it’s “good for America.”
“The blue wave is coming,” Hahn promised.
When Avella brought up the 16-year-old teen who was attacked for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, this only agitated Hahn more.
Falling back on the death in Charlottesville, he pointed out that the president “said there were fine people on both sides there.”
“So let’s talk about civic chaos. Let’s put it in perspective,” Hahn insisted. “I’m sorry Alan Dershowitz got disinvited from a barbecue on Martha’s Vineyard. But there are people dying because of right-wing violence.”
The discussion then took an entirely different turn when Avella countered to suggest “illegal aliens are coming across the border and killing innocent Americans.”
