Hollywood actor and cartoonist Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy,” threw a fit Saturday over a remark made earlier in the week by Fox News host Tucker Carlson in regard to the mainstream media’s relentless bias.

In a scathing diatribe Friday evening, the firebrand commentator had excoriated the media for telling bold-faced lies about the Department of Justice Inspector General’s just-released report.

“If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations. And that’s certainly the case here. They are lying,” he had bluntly said.

As an example Carlson had cited the mainstream media’s insistence that the IG’s report had uncovered no bias at the FBI. That was a lie — one of many, in fact.

The IG’s report found that former disgraced FBI Director James Comey had cut former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slack by downplaying her crimes. It further determined that Comey was assisted in these efforts by Peter Strzok, the same agent who was later removed from special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation over his “anti-Trump bias.”

This commentary — which might seem hyperbolic to those not familiar with the mainstream media’s never-ending lies — first triggered CNN senior media correspondent Brian Stelter, who replied with the following on Twitter:

“Isn’t this sad? Tonight @TuckerCarlson told his viewers not to believe ANYTHING they learn from his rivals: “If you’re looking to understand what’s actually happening in this country, always assume the opposite of whatever they’re telling you on the big news stations.”

This in turn triggered MacFarlane into responding with the following genuine hyperbole:

In other words, don’t think critically, don’t consult multiple news sources, and in general, don’t use your brain. Just blindly obey Fox News. This is fringe shit, and it’s business like this that makes me embarrassed to work for this company. https://t.co/kC7MPYxdgZ

For someone who follows Stelter on Twitter to complain about “fringe shit” is ironic, since Stelter is the same fringe figure who regularly floats patently insane conspiracy theories about President Donald Trump to his audience.

Plus, Carlson never told his audience to always disbelieve the media. He suggested they assume the media’s statements are false unless the media prove otherwise.

It’s a sensible recommendation, particularly at a time when the media lie with abandon. To always believe the media is to believe Trump’s marriage is on the rocks, former President Barack Obama never spied on Trump and there’s such a thing as a pregnant man.

If MacFarlane wants to believe it’s possible for men to become pregnant, that’s on him …
