ABC Studios was forced to issue an apology for a recent episode of the crime drama “Quantico,” that centered on Indian nationalists trying to frame Pakistan for a New York City terrorist plot.
It didn’t help matters that it came just days before an Indo-Pak summit is scheduled to be held. Below is a promo of the controversial episode.
“ABC Studios and the executive producers of ‘Quantico’ would like to extend an apology to our audience who were offended by the most recent episode, ‘The Blood of Romeo,'” the network said in a statement, according to Fox News.
As suggested online, there appears to be a politically correct liberal narrative at play here.
“Josh Safran, Quantico’s showrunner, said that Major rule of Quantico is that it never features a Muslim terrorist. So, Is that why they featured Hindu Terrorist?” tweeted a social media user. “I think Priyanka Chopra could asked for script changes because She’d already changed some dialogues in Quantico before.”

The plot twist prompted outrage from viewers, including calls to boycott Samsung Electronics Co, which has products endorsed by the show’s star, former Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra, Fox News reported.
ABC also stood up for the India-born actress.
“The episode has stirred a lot of emotion, much of which is unfairly aimed at Priyanka Chopra, who didn’t create the show, nor does she write or direct it,” the studio added.
Chopra also tweeted an apology, declaring she is “a proud Indian and that will never change.”
“I’m extremely saddened and sorry that some sentiments have been hurt by a recent episode of Quantico,” she tweeted. “That was not and would never be my intention. I sincerely apologise. I’m a proud Indian and that will never change.”

Here’s a sampling of responses to the controversy from Twitter:
That entire episode was not just an attack on Hindus but also an attack on India. Peddling Pakistani agenda that Indians make elaborate plots to frame Pakistan.
Shame on @priyankachopra for even thinking such a storyline was acceptable. #QuanticoApology https://t.co/ZvD38NzYqu

You don't have to be a bhakt or a "Hindu extremist" to know that #Quantico finale was in bad taste. Priyanka Chopra has time and again boasted about having tight control over her scripts, and is a Fauji kid on top of that, bears at least some responsibility.

Your apology has no meaning @priyankachopra We reject it. You read the script then u memorize the script and then u shoot the episode and u mean to say you never realized what u saying?
Shame on you
We will never ever watch your any film, past or future pic.twitter.com/ZF7fUuDIXW— #GauravPradhan ?? (@DrGPradhan) June 10, 2018
