Trump supporters see ‘tea leaves’ in Adam Schiff’s pathetic attempt to spin California primaries

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., took to Twitter following his state’s primary election on Tuesday, crowing that “a Democrat will advance in every House race,” touting what he described as “a groundswell of energy.”

“While some votes are still being counted, it looks like a Democrat will advance in every House race in California! There is a groundswell of energy here in the Golden State that will help change the direction of the whole country,” Schiff tweeted.

Lest we remind you, California is an open primary state with almost 4 million more registered Democrat voters than registered Republican voters.

A confident electorate responded to Schiff’s optimistism by rubbing it in the nose of those on the right, to include Republican President Donald Trump and conservative actor James Woods.

The tweet prompted a reply from Thomas Wictor, one of those tagged, who failed to see the excitement of there being a Democrat in every race.

A social media user responded to Wictor’s tweet to taunt Schiff as the guy who “is always right about stuff,” while noting that Republican turnout was higher.

“It’s the tea leaves!” the tweet declared.

National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers appeared on Fox News following Tuesday’s election to state, “It certainly doesn’t look like a blue wave, it might be a blue dribble.”

“We had more Republican turnout in every congressional district that’s competitive except one,” Stivers said.

President Donald Trump wasn’t buying into the Democrats “blue wave” narrative, as he celebrated a “great night” for the GOP.

“Great night for Republicans! Congratulations to John Cox on a really big number in California. He can win. Even Fake News CNN said the Trump impact was really big, much bigger than they ever thought possible. So much for the big Blue Wave, it may be a big Red Wave. Working hard!” the president tweeted.

Conservative political commentator and Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce was less than impressed as well.

“Dems were relying on 7 CA ‘vulnerable’ districts & the open primary to start their fantasy ‘blue wave,'” she tweeted. “Media swamped reliable CA for ‘blue wave’ stories. The new spin? ‘Democrats seem poised to avoid getting shut out of key California House races’ LOL!”

While Democrats may have little to fear just yet, is Schiff’s confidence well founded?

Maybe. Maybe not.

“Here’s something rarely heard after a California election: Republicans had a pretty good night,” Sacremento-based KCRA-TV reported.

Republican businessman John Cox advanced to the November governor’s race in California’s open primary system and the NBC affiliate reported that the state GOP “engineered the recall of a Democratic state senator and held its ground, at least for now, in a string of contested congressional races that could figure in the fight for control of the House.”

This coming on the heels of  Google search results showing “Nazism” as a principle of the California Republican Party in the days leading up to Tuesday’s election.
