Game on! Cruz says Kimmel accepted basketball challenge, but who’ll be wearing short shorts?

Weeping late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel found a pair and accepted Sen. Ted Cruz’s challenge to a one-on-one basketball game.

And to the relief of all who may partake of the contest, Cruz will not be wearing the short shorts Kimmel initially proposed as a requirement.

Speaking at the Maverick PAC Annual Conference in Austin, Texas, on Friday, Cruz said there was “no chance on earth” he will be rocking 80’s style short shorts.

“But I will say, the game is on,” Cruz said. “He accepted the challenge. I will confess, some of my team is utterly terrified I’m going to get dunked on by Jimmy Kimmel.”

“I hope that doesn’t happen, but we’ll see how it plays out.”

The “feud” began when Kimmel mocked Cruz’s appearance while he attended the NBA’s Western Conference finals game between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.

The liberal comedian said the Republican lawmaker looks like a blobfish” — which is ranked number one on the Ugliest Animals list. Kimmel went on to suggest that fans though it was “Grandpa Munster Bobblehead Night.”

But then, it seems liberals spent the holiday weekend spewing hate at Republicans at sporting events, with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani getting a dose along with Cruz.

The reaction online suggests people are actually looking forward to the game and that many expect Cruz, who at the age of 47 is three years younger than Kimmel, to prevail.
