The video game “Active Shooter” is drawing plenty of outrage as it allows players to simulate a school shooting.
Talk about imitating reality, in the wake of a growing number of shootings in the US where students are being killed, the “dynamic S.W.A. T. simulator” game is expected to be released on June 6, Fox News reported — it will be available on Steam, a digital distribution platform developed by Valve.

Perhaps even more egregious, the game gives you the choice of being the S.W.A.T team member or the shooter murdering innocent children.
“Pick your role, gear up and fight or destroy!” the game description reads.
“Be the good guy or the bad guy. The choice is yours! Only in ‘Active Shooter’, you will be able to pick the role of an Elite S.W.A.T member or the actual shooter. Lead your team, extract civilians and neutralize the shooter,” the description added
A statement in response to the blow back was included, saying the game “does not promote any sort of violence, especially any [sort] of a mass shooting.”
More than one social media users noted the irony of liberals blaming the NRA for school shootings:
Maybe the Left should start targeting Video Game Makers not the NRA could it be that the youth is being influenced by video games not the NRA. https://t.co/IT3HjczhvG

Ryan Petty, whose 14-year-old daughter, Alaina JoAnn Petty, was killed in February during the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, voiced his outrage.
“Despicable. Let @steam_games know games depicting ‘active shooter’ scenarios in schools, where players shoot civilians, students & law enforcement are unacceptable,” he tweeted.

This makes me sick. You want to make a difference with all of the school shootings? Lobby against the glorification of killing. https://t.co/ogr3MvcZ2Z

.@steam_games I think it would be incredibly insensitive of you, and a slap in the face to the hundreds/thousands of students who have had to live through real school shootings – if you release your new 'Active Shooter' game.

I am disgusted to see that @steam_games is selling an “Active Shooter” game due to be released on June 6 for download. I am requesting that you remove “Active Shooter” from the Steam website & stop selling products that glorify the gun violence killing America’s children.

That Active Shooter game that’s releasing on Steam (on the 6th I think) is a bad look. I’m all for devs making the games that they want but it’s an obviously shitty game that is looking to sell off controversy. It shines a poor light on my favorite hobby and gives ammo to critics

For shame, @steam_games. HORRIFIED that you would even *consider* releasing this “Active Shooter” game, making school shootings into a GAME! A grotesque lapse in judgment. I have 3 sons who have Steam accounts; if this game is released, they will not anymore. #EndGunViolence

Petitions are reportedly being circulated demanding that the “game” be removed.
There are several petitions going around asking Valve not to release an active shooter game on Steam that gives you the option of playing a school shooter… what are your thoughts? (Here is one of the articles that came across my newsfeed: https://t.co/Axd4ymfC9d) pic.twitter.com/drVWWYfWlF
