Two days after CNN ran a report accusing Hollywood actor Morgan Freeman of having sexually harassed women during his decades-long career, one of the 80-year-old actor’s alleged victims took a shot at the left-wing news outlet.
Alleged victim Tyra Martin said in a statement to TMZ that she is “not” and “never was” a victim, despite what CNN had alleged: “CNN totally misrepresented the video and took my remarks out of context.”
The video was of her interviewing and flirting with Freeman during her tenure as a producer with Chicago station WGN in 2013.
Afterward the station itself poked fun at the flirting, writing, “Morgan Freeman gets super flirty with our very own producer Tyra Martin during an interview. WGN Producer Tyra Martin shares all the spicy details of her one-on-one with Mr. Morgan Freeman.”
The original video may be seen below:
It seems that Freeman and Martin were just flirting in good fun, which men and women do every single day across America. Not once did Martin look uncomfortable or express any sort of displeasure. But this didn’t stop CNN from using Martin to impugn the Academy Award-winning actor’s character.
But this doesn’t mean Freeman isn’t a sexual harasser. A parade of women issued statements to CNN claiming that the actor did in fact sexually harass them.
“He was looking at my breasts, and I told him, ‘My eyes are up here.’ Then we went to take a group photo and he pressed himself up against me. It was inappropriate,” said one woman who reportedly worked on a recent film with him.
Freeman maintains that he had merely been joking around — that he had never been serious in his apparent sexual advances.
In a statement issued Saturday morning, the actor specifically said that it was unfair for CNN to “equate horrific incidents of sexual assault with misplaced compliments or humor.”
“I also want to be clear: I did not create unsafe work environments. I did not assault women. I did not offer employment or advancement in exchange for sex. Any suggestion that I did so is completely false.”
While Martin’s testimony fits this claim, no other woman has yet spoken out against CNN’s report.

It should be noted that the actor issued an apology Thursday. Not many were impressed with it though because of the way he worded it.
“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent,” he had said.
Sorry, Morgan Freeman.
Any apology that says "I'm sorry if you felt uncomfortable or disrespected" is a non-apology.
Anyone who narrates as much as YOU do can narrate a better apology for those 8 women.
Try again. pic.twitter.com/7lmp4lp2Dx

I'm gutted Morgan Freeman is one of the guys who has been implicated in the Hollywood sex scandal. An apology isn't good enough Morgan. Man why all my favourite actors? Disgusted he felt like my grandad

Any time a man accused of sexual harassment/assault “apologizes” by emphasizing the victim’s feelings rather than his own actions, it’s not a real apology. It’s basically saying “I don’t think I did anything wrong. These bitches are crazy.” Gaslighting 101 #MorganFreeman https://t.co/PIWxJbyquW

It’s doubtful the actor’s second statement Saturday will help his situation any.
