President Donald Trump described the FBI as “a fantastic institution,” but called the former head of the bureau, James Comey, a “rotten apple,” telling Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade he’s “done a great service to this country” by firing Comey, insisting that it will go down in history “as a good thing.”
On that note, Fox News contributor Tammy Bruce said Thursday when it comes to taking on corruption in Washington, people keep underestimating Trump, who may be “the right man at the right time.”
Appearing on FNC’s “Hannity,” Bruce told fill-in host Jeanine Pirro that the president was mocked and ridiculed when he declared that his campaign was being spied on, but his observation “has been confirmed.”
“Every single prediction he’s made has come true,” Bruce said of Trump. “People are underestimating the president. When he says something like that, you should believe him.”
Bruce detailed Comey’s actions over time, saying “all of these things indicate a man who had problems.” She also reminded viewers “that there are individuals in the FBI who want to talk about what’s going on at the FBI.”
“They need to be subpoenaed so they have protections against the agency,” she said. “And Congress will pay their legal bill. This is just the beginning of whistle-blowers.”

Joining Bruce on the all-star panel was Sebastian Gorka, the former aide to Trump, who referenced what looks to be a counterintelligence operation deployed against Trump.
“What he needs to do is order the declassification of every document relating to the Crossfire Hurricane Operation, which is political espionage against another party’s candidate,” Gorka said.
He went on to say the president “must” pull the security clearances of former Obama administration officials, like Comey, James Clapper and Hillary Clinton.
“Jim Comey is in a world of trouble,” said former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino, who rounded out the impressive panel.
Bongino said no one has explained why an “intelligence investigation” was started against Trump and that “there are felony leaks in this case.”
“That’s why I believe they are not declassifying everything, because they have a serious felony case against the leakers,” he said.
Leakers like James Comey and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe?
Bruce put a nice bow on the discussion when she said if anyone could clean up the corruption in DC, Trump can.
“I think the irony of this is they thought this Russian complaint was going to bring down Trump,” Bruce said. “And what it has done is unlocked the doors to show us a level of corruption that none of us could have imagined.”
She described President Trump as “the right man at the right time.”
“If anyone has the discipline to see it through, to face these individuals who had enormous worldwide power, it’s Donald Trump,” Bruce said. “So this is the man, not just of the hour, but a man of fate. And this is the time where we’ve got to be able to get this done. It’s being handed to us.”
