After school officials in Miami watched as a local cop slapped, punched and whipped his 14-year-old daughter right in front of their faces, a popular question surfaced on social media: Why did the witnesses do nothing?
The altercation at Pinecrest Cove Preparatory Academy reportedly occurred on March 19 after Miami-Dade police officer Raymond Rosario arrived at the school to address reports that his daughter had “disrespected her teacher.”
CCTV footage captured the entire event, including the point (around the one minute mark in the video below) that Rosario began assaulting his daughter:
Notice how nobody else in the office even flinched, let alone jumped in to stop the attack. Instead they just watched, and it wasn’t until April 2 that Rosario was reportedly arrested for child abuse. It likewise wasn’t until last week that footage from the altercation went viral, triggering the school into releasing an excuse-filled statement.
“The school followed procedure in response to the unfortunate incident which occurred in the office. The witness reported the incident to administration as soon as the parent left the premises and the school immediately reported it to the Department of Children and Families who contacted law enforcement. The school is continuing to investigate the incident and protocol,” the statement reads.
“The parent, who is a police officer and who often visited the school in uniform, surrendered himself to authorities. The person witnessing the act is an expectant mother who was unsure if the parent had a weapon. She says that at the time she feared for the safety of the victim as well as that of her unborn child.”
Though the school only referenced one witness, the CCTV footage clearly shows two.
The reaction from social media has not been favorable toward the school or its officials:
how about sanctions on the witnesses? A mandatory reportable and they sat there?

Nor has the reaction been favorable toward Rosario, whom everybody unanimously loathes with a vengeance.

@MiamiDadePD Suspended with pay? WTF??? Raymond Rosario beats his daughter and you give him paid time off? Here, go to the beach and let us pay you for this free vacation for being an asshole to your kid! Enjoy, courtesy of the Miami taxpayers.

“Merpo” wasn’t kidding. Rosario has indeed been suspended as the Miami Police Department reportedly “investigates” what happened. But what’s there to investigate? While it’s true he reportedly pleaded “not guilty” in court, the evidence against him is indisputable. So is the evidence against the school officials who sat there and watched.
