Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., has been so committed to the claim she is Native American that it’s all but impossible for her to safe face, as seen in a 2012 video clip that has resurfaced online.
“Being Native American has been part of my story, I guess, since the day I was born,” Warren said in the clip that resurfaced via a tweet from Fox News:
The blond-haired, blue-eyed Democratic lawmaker has been ridiculed unmercifully since the issue first came up in the 2012 campaign, when the Boston Herald reported the Harvard University student newspaper stated in 1998 that as a Native American, Warren was the only tenured minority at the university.
Warren fell back on “family lore” and “high cheekbones” as a defense, although there is no evidence to support her claim of Native American heritage.
President Donald Trump, who has called Warren a “total fraud,” sent ridicule of the Democrat into the stratosphere when he started calling her “Pocahontas,” a tag that promises she’ll never live it down — and one Trump is probably hoping will stick should she decide to make a presidential run in 2020.
“Fauxcahontas” is another humorous play of the mockery.
The reaction online to the 2012 video is just the latest example of what Warren is up against.

Guys, her evidence for being Native American is based on actual racist stereotypes. This is embarrassing. https://t.co/E78SCGSW90
