Alleging “serious misconduct at some of the highest levels in our government,” Fox News’ Sean Hannity reported Tuesday night on whether former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe issued a stand down order to agents investigating Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
Citing the reporting of investigative reporter Sara Carter, Hannity said “multiple sources” are saying McCabe, who was overseas when he learned of the probe, “sent electronic communications voicing his displeasure” with agents involved in the investigation.
Hannity noted the “damning” revelation a source told Carter about McCabe’s actions, concluding that “during the 2016 presidential election, the deep state as we have now been reporting over a year was alive and well.”
“McCabe tried to steer people off the private email investigation and that appears to be obstruction and should be investigated,” Carter reported one former FBI official with knowledge of the circumstances of the probe saying. “Now if the information on the ‘stand-down’ order is obtained by the IG that could bring a whole lot of other troubles to McCabe.”
Carter appeared on “Fox & Friends” to repeat the assertion that, according to sources, McCabe did indeed issued the stand down order.
Hannity also called attention to a tweet Tuesday night from Carter reporting that text messages between the two FBI officials involved in an illicit love affair — Peter Strzok and Lisa Page — that were found by Inspector General Michael Horowitz, are expected to be released by Wednesday.

Speaking of the deep state, Hannity commented on reports fired FBI director James Comey hired former US Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald as legal counsel — sometime last year.
“He’s been representing me since I was fired,” Comey told the Chicago Sun-Times at a book signing reception Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
“I have some friendly advice for Comey’s lawyer,” Hannity said. “You might want to acclimate your client with 18 USC 793, about leaking classified information, which is a serious crime and your client needs to be held accountable.”
Saying 2018 is “the year of the boomerang,” Hannity said it’s time for “the disgraced former FBI director to answer for his deliberate, improper and potentially criminal actions.”
