The Super Bowl-winning Philadelphia Eagles got more than they bargained for last week when they picked up former Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett. How much more? How about a felony indictment.
Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo called Bennett “morally bankrupt” for an incident involving injury to a 66-year-old paraplegic woman in a wheelchair and said he will be arrested on sight if they see Bennett on the street, KPRC reported.
A grand jury has indicted Bennett on a felony charge of injury to the elderly, with the NFL player being accused of causing injury to the woman who was working the 2016 Super Bowl played in Houston, WPXI reported.
The charges stems from an incident where Bennett allegedly shoved his way onto the field after the game to celebrate with his brother, who played with the winning New England Patriots team.

Bennett was told to use a different field entrance, but the indictment said he pushed through the security detail including the elderly woman in a wheelchair.
“I think it’s pretty pathetic that you’d put your hands on a 66-year-old parapalegic and just act like they don’t exist and treat them this way,” Acevedo said.
The crime carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, WPXI said. A warrant has been issued for Bennett’s arrest.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who has stood with players like Bennett as they disrespect the national anthem, should be so proud.

This being the same player who last year drove up the intensity of the protest of the national anthem by NFL players after he was briefly detained outside a Las Vegas casino when police thought a gun had been fired.
Bennett took to social media to complain about how he was treated, suggesting the police were racists and that he was targeted for “simply being a black man.” The 6′ 4″ 274 lb. professional football player complained of excessive force that he said was “unbearable.”
He even cried that an officer threatened to “blow my f**king head off.”
The only problem is, video of the incident painted a whole other story than what the race-baiting player claimed, showing no evidence of excessive force. The head of the Las Vegas police union demanded an apology from Bennett, but it was never to be.

Bennett’s new team issued a terse statement on the incident via social media.
“We are aware of the situation involving Michael Bennett and are in the process of gathering more information. Because this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time,” the Philadelphia Eagles said.
