Meghan McCain hammers Hillary for bashing women who didn’t vote for her: ‘The Clintons are a virus’:

Hillary Clinton was mistaken if she thought she could insult half the country without reprisal.

Meghan McCain, the lone conservative on ABC’s “The View,” hit back at the former Secretary of State for accusing Trump voters of racism and misogyny, calling the Clintons a “virus in the Democratic party.”

“I think at this point, if you can’t stop making this about virtue signaling and race, a lot of it was about poverty, a lot of it was about the economy, a lot of it was just this Anti-Washington sentiment,” McCain said, countering Clinton’s claim that Americans who voted for President Trump were motivated by bigotry.

At the India Today Conclave over the weekend, the two-time presidential candidate said of the president:

“His whole campaign — ‘Make America Great Again’ — was looking backwards. You know, you didn’t like black people getting rights; you don’t like women getting jobs; you don’t want to see that Indian-American succeeding more than you are.”

In another moment, Clinton alleged married white women voted for President Trump because they felt “pressure” from their husbands, sons, and other men.

McCain suggested Clinton was making excuses for a poorly run campaign.

“Honestly, I have to tell you. It’s one thing to lose to President Obama. It’s an entirely other thing to pull off losing to President Trump. And you gotta come up with a better excuse than this.”

Co-host Joy Behar then chimed in, arguing Russia and the FBI led to Clinton’s loss.

“You don’t like to hear me say this, but she did win by 3 million more votes,” she added.

Ignoring Behar, McCain returned to questioning Clinton’s rhetoric.

“Is that the commentary of someone who feels good about themselves in their lives and their future? We had Chelsea Clinton on last week. The Clintons are very omnipresent in politics still right now.

“If your messaging is that you want to go back in time, that women can’t think for ourselves, that our husbands, bosses, and sons tell us what to do, that’s quite the message going forward into midterms and [the] general election.”

Whoopi Goldberg argued liberals should “stop looking back,” but also said it’s important to “see where we stumbled.”

“The Clintons are a virus in the Democratic Party,” McCain fired back. “You have to move on.”

Sunny Hostin called President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan a “dog whistle,” and questioned “when was America ever great?”

As the discussion closed, McCain concluded:

“Politics is a street fight. You want to win, this message is losing. You just lost an important election to a reality television star.”
