The National Rifle Association is not backing down in the face of a growing number of companies severing ties with the pro-Second Amendment group, characterizing the knee-jerk reaction as “political and civic cowardice.”

A number of national corporations have responded to the well-coordinated attacks on the NRA following last week’s shooting at a Florida high school by dissociating themselves from the group which bears no responsibility for the attack.

An analysis of how many of these same companies support Panned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, may prove to be instructive.

The NRA represents more than five million responsible gun owners and membership benefits include discounts and cost-savings programs with partnering corporations. Following a well-established tactic on the left, the gun control crowd is pressuring many of these companies to punish the NRA and its members by cutting ties with the group.

But the NRA said it won’t be deterred in its efforts to defend the Second Amendment and provide gun safety and educational training.

“Since the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, a number of companies have decided to sever their relationship with the NRA, in an effort to punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community,” the NRA said Saturday evening in a released statement.

The pro-gun group was not shy about assigning blame for the shooting that claimed 17 lives, pointing to “the failure of that school’s security preparedness, the failure of America’s mental health system, the failure of the National Instant Check System or the cruel failures of both federal and local law enforcement.”

And the NRA is adamant that they’ll stand strong in the face of “a shameful display of political and civic cowardice” from these corporations.

“Let it be absolutely clear,” the statement said. “The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.”

The gun control crowd is also targeting NRATV, calling on online streaming services Amazon and Apple to drop it from their channel line-up, The Daily Caller reported.

NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch responded to the campaign by calling attention to the hypocrisy of those who say they stand for free speech trying to silence others.
