Canadian glamor boy Justin Trudeau finally goes too far with multi-culti costume play, gets lit up by actual Indians

No one likes a suck-up–not even the political correctness crowd.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau became the object of derision on social media for wearing traditional native dress several days in a row while on his trip to India, with some calling his choice of clothing “tacky.”

Trudeau’s decision to don traditional Indian garbs was at first warmly received when he arrived with his family last week.

After a couple days, the prime minister’s clothing was picked apart by many Indians, who said it was too much.

India Today referred to Trudeau’s clothing as “tacky,” and said:

“We understand that the Trudeaus do not understand Indian clothing as well as Indian dignitaries do, but for someone who’s been fond of wearing Indian kurtas even back home, it’s not wrong to expect a touch of class.”

Omar Abdullah, former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, said that not even Indians in Bollywood dress like that everyday.

Kabir Taneja of the think-tank ORF suggested the Canadian leader “have some chill.”

Outlook India described the wardrobe at “too flashy, even for an Indian,” and many mocked Trudeau for looking like he was going to participate in a wedding.

Of particular note was the prime minister’s gold outfit at a Bollywood event.

After Thursday, perhaps in response to the criticism, Trudeau was seen back in a suit.

Trudeau’s visit was marred by other scandals. According to CNN, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not receive the Canadian head of state at the airport as he is typically does with other foreign leaders. The pair did not see each other until Friday.

There was backlash in India when Trudeau’s wife took a picture with Jaspal Atwal, a convicted Sikh extremist found guilty of attempting to assassinate an Indian minister in 1986.

Trudeau was also ridiculed for his dancing at the Canada House in New Dehli.

As a liberal, Trudeau should know that “cultural appropriation” is a cardinal sin on his side of the political spectrum.
