Marco Rubio again leaves conservatives wondering whose side he’s on.
The Florida Republican on Thursday tweeted out support for Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), who was discovered to have had text conversations with a lobbyist with ties to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, an ally of Vladimir Putin.
“Sen. Warner fully disclosed this to the committee four months ago, Rubio wrote. “Has had zero impact on our work.”
Chuck Ross of the Daily Caller responded to Rubio’s tweet, reminding the senator that Warner waited 7 months before handing the Intelligence Committee the texts in September.
4 months ago is 7 months after he exchanged the texts. https://t.co/yOkLPJbr3B

According to a Fox News report, Warner wanted lobbyist Adam Waldman to arrange a meeting with Christopher Steele, author of the dossier alleging ties between President Trump and the Russian government.

One of Waldman’s most prominent clients is Oleg V. Deripaska, a Russian billionaire described as having a “tight” relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In one text, Warner, the ranking member on the Senate Intelligence Committee, told Waldman he wanted to avoid leaving a “paper trail” of any meeting with Steele.

“We want to do this right private in London don’t want to send letter yet cuz if we can’t get agreement wud rather not have paper trail,” the senator wrote in March 2o17.
The entire correspondence between Warner and Waldman is available below.
Imagine if a Trump associate were discovered to have had that conversation.
Many Twitter users blasted Rubio for his defense of Warner.
Absolutely wrong.
Warner (D) wanted to secretly communicate with an ex-MI6 Moscow field agent, who was putting together a Russian dossier funded by Hillary Clinton and the DNC.#MarkWarner

The same thing? Don Jr was meeting with Russians to get dirt on a political opponenent. Warner talked to an American lobbyist about making contact with an intel specialist who had information about national security interests. These aren’t remotely the same.

Mark Warner was trying to get dirt on Trump. Period.

Yes but he has no problem with calling out a sitting President based on lies and fake stories from the DNC & Hillary. Guess he doesn’t like it when the shoe is on his foot and he’s accused of canoodling with Russians.

Another crooked senior Democrats in Senate Intel Cmte who had strong desire to collaborate with a crooked foreign agent, Christopher Steele, in secret, (on behalf of Hillary?)

You, @marcorubio, are a wolf i sheep’s clothing. We knew it in 2016, and we know it now.

How would you know what this no-paper-trail guy was up to? He’s actively trying to cover his tracks and you’re helping him? Trump is right (as usual): one big uniparty swamp. #DrainTheSwamp #MAGA
