Liberals’ brains are already working on how to make this latest anthropological finding political.
A new analysis of the famous “Cheddar Man” stone age skeleton revealed that the primitive inhabitants of Britain had dark skin and curly hair, and that fair skin developed on the European continent later than previously believed.
Discovered in 1903 in a cave near Cheddar, England, the fossil is the oldest skeleton found in Britain. Researchers say Cheddar Man was part of the last wave of peoples to arrive in Britain following the Ice Age.
New DNA analysis allowed scientists from University College London and the Natural History Museum to perform a facial reconstruction of the primitive man, who apparently had blue eyes, “dark brown to black skin,” and “dark curly hair.”
“The Cheddar Man’s genetic profile places him in a wider population than England,” lead researcher Yoan Diekmann told CNN. “He belonged to western hunter gatherers from Spain, Luxembourg, Germany there are even traces to the Middle East and today 10 percent of our ancestry can be linked to this population.”
According to Diekmann, Cheddar Man lived in the pre-farming middle stone age, owned dogs, and lived in a highly sophisticated community.

The facial reconstruction was made possible by scientists’ newfound ability to extract a full genome set from fragments of Cheddar Man’s skull.
Natural History Museum researcher Chris Stringer said in a statement:
“I first studied ‘Cheddar Man’ more than 40 years ago, but could never have believed that we would one day have his whole genome! To go beyond what the bones tell us and get a scientifically-based picture of what he actually looked like is a remarkable achievement.”
