Yesterday’s Super Bowl had it all – offense, drama, even a cute baby – but one key thing was missing – a pre-Super Bowl presidential interview.
Sure, NBC would have liked to have interviewed President Trump and even extended an invitation, if only to ignore his numerous accomplishments and ask him about Russia, Russia, Russia, but the president was having none of it.
“He is not doing a Super Bowl interview,” an anonymous White House official told CNN last Wednesday.
NBC kept the invitation open and even tried to lure the president with the promise of a big Super Bowl audience, but Trump never took the bait.
CNN laments that the “pre-Super Bowl interview with the president has become an American tradition in the past decade.”
Last year, Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly interviewed Trump at the White House.
Trump wasn’t about to let kneelers ruin the Super Bowl as Pink belted the anthem – his plan worked
Since President @realDonaldTrump told @NBC to go stick it about the Super Bowl interview this year, this one I did last year is pretty edifying – https://t.co/1VhKvGcQoD pic.twitter.com/eAZp5SIQSu

Besides “Fake News,” which would have been reason enough for the turn-down, the NFL’s ridiculous “take-a-knee” protests couldn’t have helped. Before the game, the president released a statement calling for Americans to appreciate our brave service members and “thank them for our freedom as we proudly stand for the National Anthem.

Meanwhile, Trump received plenty of support via Twitter for his stand.

Yes, most of “we the people” share that same sentiment. Talk to us when you can apologize and respect the flag unanimously as a sport. Otherwise do like liberal reporters and ignore us but don’t expect to see us watching you or purchasing your products.
