Former U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Joe diGenova said Monday the Federal Bureau of Investigations is experiencing “the worst period in the history of the bureau.”
Even worse than when J. Edgar Hoover ran the bureau.
The former federal prosecutor appeared on Fox News Channel’s “The Ingraham Angle,” to discuss the announced early retirement of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and said former director James Comey was “a dirty cop” who “dirtied up everybody else around him.”
“This is quite a disgraceful moment for the bureau,” diGenova insisted. “I’m truly saddened by the fall from grace of everybody there.”
He didn’t pull punches in explaining the actions of the upper echelon of the FBI under President Barack Obama in the run up to the 2016 election, a period when the bureau had become “weaponized for political purposes.”
“But make no mistake about it,” diGenova declared, “this was a plot to exonerate Hillary Clinton illegally and then if she lost the election, to frame Donald Trump with an illegal crime.”
“This is the worst period in the history of the bureau — much worse than the late Hoover period when they were spying on domestic groups,” he added. “This was the weaponization of the FBI for political purposes by all the people of the upper echelon of the bureau.”
diGenova said Democrats need to stop making “excuses [and] wake up,” but don’t expect that to happen any time soon.
