Trump unleashes fury after 50,000 missing FBI texts and then he brings up ‘Samsung’

President Trump is ready to make heads roll.

In a late night tweet on Tuesday, the president blasted the FBI for news that the bureau failed to preserve five months’ worth of texts between anti-Trump FBI employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page–amounting to approximately 50,000 messages between the two.

“Where are the 50,000 important text messages between FBI lovers Lisa Page and Peter Strzok?” President Trump asked. “Blaming Samsung!”

The president’s tweet alluded to a technical glitch being cited as the cause of the lost text messages. Many Samsung 5 cellphones have experienced a software upgrade glitch.

The missing correspondence between counterintelligence agent Strzok and lawyer Lisa Page was part of broader collection of FBI texts that went missing from the period of December 14, 2016 to May 17, 2017.

That time frame was significant because it covered the time of the presidential transition following the 2016 election up to the beginning of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into alleged Russian electoral interference.

The revelation was made in a letter from Stephen Boyd, Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs, to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions vowed to “leave no stone unturned” to recover the texts.

White House Press Secretary on Tuesday told reporters that the loss of the texts could have been “illegal.”

“You guys are absolutely obsessed with everything to do with collusion,” Sanders said. She went on, “We hope that you’ll take some of that same obsession, energy and direct it to the places where it looks like there could have been inappropriate and possibly illegal behavior.”

President Trump expressed outrage at the news earlier on Tuesday.

Newly revealed court documents show that as FBI director, Mueller was ‘likely involved’ in a major cover up

Strzok, who was a senior investigator into both the Trump campaign and the Hillary Clinton private email server case, was removed from the Mueller investigation and demoted at the FBI after his texts were discovered. Page left the Mueller team before the messages came to light.

Also on Tuesday, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) revealed that Strzok and Page discussed organizing a “secret society” to oppose President Trump.

The revelations have led to a perception of anti-Trump bias at the FBI.

It looks like the swamp was bigger than President Trump or Americans anticipated.
