Black pastor defending Trump is rudely shut down by Joy Reid, but he gets the last word on his way home

Pastor Mark Burns, a member of President Trump’s evangelical council, went on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” on Saturday to defend Trump’s alleged reference to certain impoverished nations as “sh*thole countries” but it wasn’t long before the interview went completely off the rails.

Apparently, there are only so many truth-bombs a liberal like Joy Reid can take in one sitting.

“How can you, as a man of God, justify sending people back to such a country if the country is so broken? How can you justify sending people back to that country?” Reid asked.

“This is not about sending people back to their country,” Burns said. “We are talking about taking care of America first.”

“Joy, it is not the responsibility of the United States of America to be the United States of the global world. This is the United States of America. You, Joy, I, am American. The President of the United States’ job, his vow and oath, was to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and the citizens of the United States,” Burns said between repeated, attempted interjections by Reid.

“We are not leaving those people to die,” Burns continued, citing the fact that the United States is, in fact, sending “millions of dollars” in aid.

“We are sending them to, we are sending them to die,” Reid said in response, apparently forgetting that these nations are virtual paradises on earth, not “sh*tholes” like President Trump allegedly characterized.

A visibly frustrated Reid then responded to Burns’ request for a question by saying, “No, no you don’t have to ask me a question because when I am on AM Burns you can ask me whatever you want.”

Ivana Trump was asked if her ex-husband is a racist. Her answer’s about to be fodder for the haters.

But Burns asked it anyway: “Do you believe that millions of dollars that we send to Haiti and those other countries, wouldn’t that money do good here in America? Wouldn’t that money do good for other African Americans? Let’s talk about the black mothers. Let’s talk about the black fathers. Let’s talk about the black single moms in America.”

At which point Reid pivoted to an attempt to get Burns to endorse “universal healthcare” to help black families in America.

“Let’s talk about black people in America,” Burns responded, not allowing Reid to get him off track. “We’re talking about black people in Haiti. Let’s talk about black people in America.”

Burns did mention “one thing that the president and I disagree with.”

“I don’t think we need any more white liberals coming to America. I think Norwegians can stay where they’re at.”

In an interview that was filled with crosstalk and often hard to follow, Reid stated that she was going to give Burns “one more chance to answer” her question “and we’re done here because you’re actually wasting my time.”

After Burns turned Reid’s snipe around to state she was actually wasting his, Reid said, “Oh, well then, if I’m wasting your time, then goodbye,” before cutting Burns off.

On the way home, Burns recorded a video, suggesting that perhaps Reid should move to Haiti:

“Just wanted to say to Joy, who I consider a friend, she’s always been very kind and I think fair to me, but obviously in the interview you just saw, if you watched Joy Reid, that she should just move to Haiti since she’s more concerned about Haitian immigrants than black Americans here in poverty,” Burns said.

Reid responded quickly on her show.

“Sir, I always do try to be kind to the people who are on the show, but we’re not friends. You’re somebody that I am glad that you’re willing to come on and I do try to be fair to you and I’m glad that you can see that,” Reid said.
