As expected, when asked about the feud that broke out this week between President Trump and his former aide Steve Bannon, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders pulled no punches, calling Bannon’s words “outrageous and unprecedented.”
“I think there are a number of factors that played in,” Sanders said of the falling out. “I would certainly think that going after the president’s son in an absolutely outrageous and unprecedented way is probably not the best way to curry favor with anybody.”

The split between Trump and his former aide was prompted by Michael Wolff’s book, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” which features several stinging barbs from Bannon. The Breitbart News CEO characterized a meeting between Donald Trump Jr. and a group of Russians as “treasonous,” and said Ivanka Trump is “dumb as a brick.”
“They’re going to crack Don. Jr. like an egg on national TV,” Bannon told Wolff.
The president responded by releasing a statement insisting that Bannon “has nothing to do with me or my Presidency,” adding that when Bannon was fired, “he not only lost his job, he lost his mind.”
The president’s attorney sent a cease and desist letter to Bannon on Wednesday.

Sanders supported the claim that Bannon was not currently involved in anyway with the White House, saying the last time Trump spoke with Bannon was “at the first part of December,” CNS News reported.
As for whether Trump felt betrayed by Bannon or regretted hiring him, Sanders was a little more coy.
“I think the president’s statement is extremely clear what his position on Mr. Bannon is,” she said. “It was pretty lengthy and pretty detailed, and there’s not really much to clarify or to add.”
