During Tuesday’s White House press conference, White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders didn’t miss a beat when a reporter challenged President Trump’s position on the recent protests in Iran.
Not only did her brilliant takedown include an epic slam of former President Obama’s hapless foreign policy, but she used Hillary Clinton’s own historic words to do it.
“What does the president see as the end game in Iran?” the reporter asked. “Would he like to see regime change?”
“I think the ultimate end game would be that the citizens and the people of Iran are actually given basic human rights, and he would certainly like to see them stop being a state sponsor of terror,” said Sanders. “I think that’s something the whole world would like to see.”
“By encouraging these demonstrators that there could be a backlash against them from the Iranian government?” the reporter said, apparently reacting to this Tuesday morning tweet from the president:

Sanders wasn’t having any of it, and deftly referred to history to use Democrats’ own words and actions against them.
“No, and you know, I think one of the big things and I think even Hillary Clinton outlined this when she said that the Obama administration was too restrained during the 2009 protest is that that won’t happen again,” Sanders said. “And for once, she is right and we agree with her because President Trump is not going to sit by silently like President Obama did. He certainly supports the Iranian people and wants to make that clear.”
Sure, she had to admit Hillary was right about something, but hey, even a blind squirrel can find an acorn once in a while!
