Parenting typically isn’t a strong suit for rabid left-wing celebrities.
“Will and Grace” star Debra Messing stirred controversy with an Instagram post last week in which she said she encouraged her son to protest the national anthem during a hockey game.

The since-deleted photo showed her son holding his right hand over his heart while seated at a New York Rangers game in Madison Square Garden.
In the photo’s caption, Messing described the conversation between her and the boy.
“‘Please stand for the Star Spangled Banner.’
“Son: ‘Mom, I want to sit down in protest. Can we do that?’
“Me: ‘Yes, honey. We can do that.’
“Who’s crying? I’m not crying. #BLM (Black Lives Matter).”
The act of protest by Messing’s son was reminiscent of the widespread kneeling by NFL players who refuse to stand during the “Star-Spangled Banner” as a way of calling attention to police shootings of African-Americans.

One of the many people to fire back at the actress was Lisa Smith, whose Twitter bio describes her as the “proud mother of a wounded soldier.”
“@DebraMessing: You’re proud your son boycotted our Anthem?” Smith wrote. “I’m proud of MY son. You know why? HE can’t kneel or walk on his own. HE was wounded fighting for the very freedom that YOU spit on, yet he has NO regrets! He’s a Patriot & you’re a loser!”
Smith was lauded by other Twitter users.
@lsmith we honor your sons courage and sacrifice,
Thank you to him and to your family.— Lammas (@I_Am_Lammas) January 2, 2018
God bless you Lisa and your family. Thank you for your service. Please ignore the ignorance of Hollywood elites that have no idea what sacrifice families like yours make to make this the greatest country on earth. ??❤️

Mrs Smith. I can’t possibly imagine what it must feel like. Please let him know the REAL AMERICANS appreciate and STAND by him for his service. My son is 21, in the Marine Corp Reserve..and I am very proud of him. I cannot for the life of me understand these weirdos.

I am tears reading your tweet! What is it with these elitist celebrities like @DebraMessing #shameonher

Lisa. I will pray 4 your son always. I come from a long line of Military family. They are my heroes and my superstars. Hollywood is the pit of society. I will always defend & stand up 4 Military & Veterans. Never stop hugging him & never stop telling him how much U love him.

Her son is only 13 & am sure has lived a life of privilege. He’s kneeling only because of the prejudice he has heard & lives with. It’s disgusting that Debra has no taken the time to teach her son about pride in country, pride in our military, pride & meaning of National Anthem.

Thank you and your son for your sacrifice and service to our beautiful country ??. My 12 year old son chooses to always stand for our National Anthem and Thanks and honors those that have sacrificed so much for our Freedom! God Bless ?

Following the backlash, Messing removed the post and replaced it with a less polarizing photo from her day at the Rangers game.
Despite the change, Americans continued voicing their disapproval of the celebrity’s politically-charged parenting.
She teaches disrespect to a country that has afforded her great wealth & freedom. Disgusting. Once I see that an American harbors these feelings, I lose total respect.

You’re welcome for the freedom our military allows you. If you were a decent mother you would have taught your son respect and why he is to stand.

I do not understand, if America upsets them so much why are they here? There must be somewhere more appealing to them.

Her son is protesting the national anthem. He has no reason except for the fact that he was raised to be disrespectful. Bad parenting is what’s wrong with this country. Nothing else.

Oh dear, another actor/actress for my Do Not Watch list as I won’t support her disloyal views.
— Linda Sue Lawson (@LindaSueLawson) January 2, 2018
She should be ashamed of herself for teaching then condoning the behavior of her son. What a waste she is & I guess she raised her son to be that as well.

If you don’t love our country, pack your son and leave. No problem. If you disagree with some things going on, speak your piece like an adult. Teaching your son to disrespect the anthem teaches him that ALL of America is bad. If you believe that why do you want to raise him here?

The elite can’t wait to wave their children on to protest causes that they have no understanding of. Just proves that the #entitled love to protest for protest sake… makes em feel “in touch with struggle.” #smh
