Hollywood values strike again.
Actor and Youtube personality Logan Paul faced enormous backlash for a video he posted over the weekend in which he and his friends are seen laughing over a dead body.
Paul has since removed the video from his Youtube account, but clips were captured by other users.
Paul said he intended to “raise awareness” of the issue of suicide by traveling to Japan’s “Suicide Forest,” a wooded area near Mt. Fuji where people are known to regularly take their own lives.
As Paul and his friends wandered the forest, they came across the body of a man who apparently hanged himself from a tree.

The roughly 15-minute video depicted Paul and his friends laughing and joking throughout the encounter.
The vlogger issued an apology on Monday, saying he is “still a human being. I can be wrong.”

“I didn’t do it for views,” Paul wrote. “I get views. I did it because I thought I could make a positive ripple on the internet, not cause a monsoon of negativity. That’s never the intention. I intended to raise awareness for suicide and suicide prevention … .”
He added:
“I’m often reminded of how big of a reach I truly have & with great power comes great responsibility… for the first time in my life I’m regretful to say I handled that power incorrectly. It won’t happen again.”

Twitter users were unrelenting in condemning Paul’s video.
Actor Aaron Paul of the TV series “Breaking Bad” called the Youtuber “pure trash.”

Actress Sophie Turner slammed Paul’s apology as “self-praising.”

Screenwriter Bess Kalb suggested Paul represents “the end of American culture.”
Is Logan Paul a real person or is he a metaphor for the end of American culture?

Many other Twitter users added their voices.
As someone who edits their own content, the fact that #loganpaul looked at that footage in post over & over again & still didn’t realize that posting this video would be appalling says volumes about his character…

Not only do I think @LoganPaul
shouldn't have filmed the body to respect the suicide victims family who may see his video. But also cuz his fan base is kids! The footage of the dead body terrified me & I'm 27. I can't imagine how it affected children! 🙁#loganpaul— Carol Lynette (@cg1346) January 1, 2018
@YouTube @TeamYouTube Do not let him get away w/ this just b/c he deleted the video (after you failed to).@LoganPaul You had plenty of editing time to consider what you were doing & you did it anyway. Just stop.#loganpaul #giveloganastrike #giveloganpaulastrike#BANLOGANPAUL

@LoganPaul you find a dead body from someone who committed suicide hours ago and you decide to film his body and put it on YouTube, seconds after you laugh and joke like nothing happened. Where is your respect,do you have any?
I’m deeply disgusted. #loganpaul— ✨ 𝑴𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒚 ✨ (@AmandaSpic3) December 31, 2017
