Trump campaign committee asks supporters to vote on ‘King of Fake News’ story: Nominees are…

The nominations are in and the suspense is palpable. So, who will win the coveted title of “KING of Fake News?”

That’s right, President Donald Trump’s campaign committee is conducting a poll asking supporters to help them determine who indeed deserves this, uh, esteemed award. And the competition is heated, with ABC, CNN, and TIME Magazine all vying for the spot with key Fake News gaffes in 2017.

“At President Trump’s request, we are holding a contest to name the 2017 KING of Fake News. And we want to hear from you,” reads an email from the Make America Great Again Committee which included the subject line: “Which story was the FAKEST of Fake News in 2017?”

“Americans are sick and tired of being lied to, insulted, and treated with outright condescension,” says the email. “The FAKE NEWS has utterly abandoned their duty to fairly report the news to the American people. Some journalists and liberal pundits think that Americans are too stupid to see through their amateur efforts to manipulate public opinion, but THEY’RE WRONG.”

The actual poll consists of three key gaffes and selections available to respondents that include “fake news,” “faker news,” and (my favorite) “fakest news.”

The nominated stories are:

“ABC News “MISTAKENLY” reported that candidate Trump directed Michael Flynn to make contact with Russian officials before the election.”

“CNN “MISTAKENLY” reported that candidate Donald Trump and his son Donald J. Trump, Jr. had access to hacked documents from WikiLeaks.”

“TIME “MISTAKENLY” reported that President Trump removed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office.”

According to the site, the poll is “Paid for by the Trump Make America Great Again Committee, a joint fundraising committee authorized by and composed of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. and the Republican National Committee.”
