After Vanity Fair apologizes for gentle criticism of Hillary, President Trump is on the spot with a real zinger

You can always count on President Trump to tweet what everybody’s thinking.

The president had harsh words on Thursday for Vanity Fair, which issued an apology for a comedy video that encouraged Hillary Clinton to retire from politics.

“Vanity Fair, which looks like it is on its last legs, is bending over backwards in apologizing for the minor hit they took at Crooked H,” President Trump wrote.

In a statement released to the press, the magazine walked back on mocking Clinton, saying of the video: “It was an attempt at humor and we regret that it missed the mark.”

The president also took aim at Ann Wintour, artistic director of Vanity Fair publisher Condé Nast.

“Anna Wintour, who was all set to be Amb to Court of St James’s & a big fundraiser for CH, is beside herself in grief & begging for forgiveness!” President Trump said of the socialite and Clinton donor.

The widely-circulated video featured editors from Vanity Fair’s “The Hive” recommending Clinton use the New Year to take up new hobbies–such as knitting–rather than seek public office again.

“Take up a new hobby in the new year,” one of the editors suggested. “Volunteer work, knitting, improv comedy, literally anything that’ll keep you from running again.”

The video provoked furious backlash from Clinton supporters on social media.

Maybe the incident will wake Vanity Fair’s young millennial editors up to the dangers of rampant political correctness.
