President Donald Trump had a beautiful message for the troops serving in Afghanistan this Christmas season.
And his vice president, Mike Pence delivered the message in person on Thursday.

“I bring greetings from your Commander-in-Chief, the 45th President of the United States of America, President Donald Trump,” he said after he arrived at Bagram Air Field under heavy security.

“Before I left the Oval Office yesterday, I asked the President if he had a message for our troops here in Afghanistan. And he looked at me without hesitation from behind the Resolute Desk, and he said, tell them I love them,” he said.
“And during this special season, I know that President Trump was speaking for every American,” the vice president said.

It was the first visit by either the president or vice president since they took office in January, and it came after the administration unveiled its “fight to win” strategy for Afghanistan.
The vice president told the troops to be focused on victory and not on the “time-based” focus of the Obama administration.

“Your Commander-in-Chief has made it clear to our allies, our partners, and our enemies that the United States of America will no longer be bound by arbitrary timetables in Afghanistan,” he told the troops.
“As the President has said, America’s enemies must never know our plans. They must never believe they can wait us out. Instead, our decisions will be based on an objective assessment of conditions on the ground. Reality and facts and a relentless pursuit of victory will guide us and nothing else,” he said.
