House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is taking heat after a controversial tweet questioning President Trump’s appointment of an acting Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) director.
Pelosi called former CFPB chief of staff Leandra English the “rightful Acting Director of CFPB” shortly after a federal judge shot down English’s attempt to block the President’s appointee from assuming the role.

“Incredibly thankful for the determination of Leandra English, the rightful Acting Director of @CFPB. #DefendCFPB” Pelosi posted, along with a photo of herself, English, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
English had sued the President for picking Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney to fill the CFPB vacancy until a permanent appointee is found and confirmed by the Senate. She argued that former CFPB director Richard Cordray intended her to become acting head by promoting her to deputy director right before his resignation.
Conservatives immediately criticized Pelosi’s insistence on considering English the “rightful” acting director–even after a federal court ruled the President has the authority to choose who he wants for the position.
National Review editor Charles C.W. Cooke offered a historical perspective, evoking the English Civil War in a stinging parody of Pelosi’s tweet.

“I denounce Michael Mulvaney, the PRETENDER to the Acting Directorship of the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau, and all my other realms. I, Bonnie Princess English, call upon all loyal Americans to join me in resistance.”

Speed, bonnie boat, like a bird on the wing,
Onward! the sailors cry;
Carry the lass that’s born to be Acting Director
Over the sea to the CFPB.
Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar,
Thunderclaps rend the air;
Baffled, our foes stand by the shore,
Follow they will not dare.— Charles C. W. Cooke (@charlescwcooke) November 29, 2017
Cooke then humorously shared a portrait of the Dutch-born British Monarch William of Orange, famous for deposing of James II during the “Glorious Revolution.”

Ben Shapiro continued with the mockery of Pelosi.

Their parody was highly approved by conservatives around the country.
I can see them now, proposing secret toasts to the Bureaucrat Over The Water.

Clandestine meetings to plot against usurper Mulvaney in dark taverns, and restore the rightful Leandra English. For visual, see Cromwell-meets-with-Richard-Rich in “A Man for All Seasons”

Are these people crazy. If this is a government agency the person retiring can’t pick his replacement. It’s the Presidents job to do that

English seems to be mentally ill, forensic audits for all CFPB directors!

Isn’t Mulvaney recognized by the French court, the papacy and the duke of Bavaria?
