Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said husband Bill might not have been elected president if Fox News had been around when he first ran.
Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Bill Clinton’s 1992 election victory Saturday, the Clintons took part in a “special conversation” moderated by Clinton loyalist James Carville and Hillary let loose on Fox News.
“Unfortunately our body politic’s immune system has been impaired because there has been a concerted effort starting with the creation of the Fox network — it wasn’t there when Bill first ran, it was one of the reasons he probably survived, it was there when he ran the second time — and all of its associated media outlets who are by no means delivering news,” Clinton said.
Looking past a network like MSNBC, which all but serves as the campaign arm of the Democratic Party, she denounced Fox News for its partisanship.
“They are delivering partisan advocacy positions irrespective of the truth, the facts, the evidence,” Clinton said.
“I think we’ve got to stand up regardless of what party, regardless of our own ideological beliefs,” she continued. “A democracy depends on an informed citizenry that has access to accurate information. And I will tell you that there is no such thing as an alternative fact it does not exist in politics or in nature.”
The thought process is a continuation of the “weaponized false information” narrative that Clinton blames for her loss to President Donald Trump — along with the Russians and voter suppression.
She did take pot shots at Trump throughout the night, even comparing Bill Clinton to the president.
“He didn’t tweet about it, he got to work about it and he actually got it done,” she said of former President Clinton.
But, much like everything Mrs. Clinton says, there’s a catch to the comment — Twitter didn’t exist when Bill was in office.
