Tucker digs in to ‘Seuss-Gate’: Michelle Obama caught red-handed peddling ‘racist’ literature to kids

Tucker Carlson couldn’t hold back in his debate with LaDawn Jones, a former Democratic member of the Georgia House of Representatives, who has come out in defense of Liz Phipps Soiero–the Massachusetts elementary school librarian who refused to accept a donation of 10 Dr. Seuss books sent by First Lady Melania Trump as part of National Read a Book Day.

But even Jones couldn’t stand by Soeiro’s position that such innocent children’s favorites as The Cat in the Hat are “racist propaganda,” especially when Carlson confronted her with photographic evidence of Barack and Michelle Obama’s love for the works of Dr. Seuss.

Former President Obama himself said “pretty much all the stuff you need to know is in Dr. Seuss.”

The Obamas are such staunch lovers of Dr. Seuss that in 2015, they hosted a children’s event at the White House in which a person in a Cat in the Hat costume entertained children while Michelle Obama herself read Seuss’s Oh, the Things You Can Do That Are Good for You, as seen in the White House archives.

Faced with the harsh facts, Jones admitted that Dr. Seuss’s books themselves are free of anything offensive. She then switched gears and began discussing the famous children’s author’s political cartoons–singling out his supposedly “racist” depictions of “Asians.”

Of course, context is everything. As Tucker pointed out, Dr. Seuss’s caricatures of “Asians” were wartime lampoons of Japan’s imperialistic WWII regime–a government that murdered approximately 10,000,000 Chinese, Indonesians, Filipinos, Indochinese, and others, as noted by the University of Hawaii.

Carlson asked Jones if she didn’t think Dr. Seuss was justified in poking fun at the perpetrators of such mass genocide. Amazingly, Jones persisted in calling the drawings inappropriate!

This isn’t the only time Carlson has taken aim at what has come to be known as #SeussGate. He invited conservative commentator Mark Steyn to his program to discuss how “racism” accusations against Dr. Seuss represent the “dumbing down of American society.”

Steyn said “We are making ourselves a society too stupid to survive.”

For all the controversy, it appears Soiero didn’t always harbor so much animosity toward the author of Green Eggs and Ham. This was taken just two years ago, according to a report by the Washington Examiner.

The First Lady has responded to the strange activism with class and dignity. Her office sent a statement to Fox News saying that Mrs. Trump wanted to “help as many people as she can.” The First Lady’s communications argued that “[to] turn the gesture of sending young students some books into something divisive is unfortunate, but the First Lady remains committed to her efforts on behalf of children everywhere.”

Despite the unprecedented polarization in America’s current political climate, the public response to this issue has been overwhelmingly in favor of Mrs. Trump.

Meanwhile, most Americans refuse to believe cherished childhood classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas are secretly racist.
