Urban website spins story of 9-year-old being handcuffed as racist, omits black people on cop’s side

A popular urban website shared a video of the handcuffing of an African-American child and did it’s best to make it the officer seem like a racist.

“DISGRACEFUL!!! South Carolina Police Officer ARRESTS 9 Year Old African American Boy . . . For ‘ILLEGALLY’ PLAYING Outside!! (‘I’m Restraining You For YOUR Safety And Mine’) #BackLivesMatter,” Mediatakeout.com wrote on its Facebook page with the police body camera video.

But it left out an extremely big piece of the story.

The 9-year-old was playing outside, yes, but with a toy gun that looked real from a distance.

The website also left out the fact that, as the officer explained in the video, the young man was throwing rocks at people.

In the video the officer stepped out of his vehicle, asked the child to put the gun on the ground, and then handcuffed him, and calmly told him that he was “doing this for my safety and your safety.”

The Spartanburg, South Carolina police officer never pulled out his weapon to confront the young man and was exceedingly nice throughout the ordeal, until the child’s mother got involved and lost her temper.

The mom started screaming at the officer and had to be restrained in handcuffs.

The video had the usual smattering of people who believed the detaining of the child was racist.

And they expressed it in the most racist of ways.

“I dgaf (don’t give a f**k) what he did without his parent present he should hv (have) never been cuffed yall crackers kill me making excuses 4 dumb shit yall especially when your whole existence was taught to you by us native Americans indians koreans etc… Mf (M***erf***ers) the biggest posers in the world n (and) feel entitled lol but wen (when) we retaliate Dont get scared then bitches a white kid would hv (have) never been cuffed dumb mf (m***erf***ers,” Tatiana Porter wrote.

“It’s always good to see tha (the) FEAR of White People….White ppl never been BRAVE…. they do everything out of FEAR,” someone who used the name Leeon Hustle, added.

But many other commenters, the majority of whom were black, defended the officer.

“The kid also had a toy gun that looks very real from a distance ; I’m no fan of aggressive, racist cops , but the police have a job to do -and- this incident was handled correctly,” Kenneth Lewis said.

“Well just look at what he picked up lil Uzi maybe a toy but you never know!” Fidel Aranda Jr. added.

“Read the back story, because several people called in. Everyone is focusing on the fact that he is 9 , and it don’t make no difference to me. I had to and several other people had to call police on 9 year old white boy, because he was beating his mom and grandmother’s ass.the mom was saying help,me and we did. The police came fused that little boy out and arrested him. You have some cases that are truly about race and this one is not one of them,” Naomi Azizi wrote.

“The cop was just doing his job if the child was throwing rocks at someone home they could break a window or cause harm to someone in the house. Get your damn kids,” Angela R Alysaadaly.

Some put the blame on the child’s parents.

“The police was very calm he did not hurt the young boy and he sure didn’t put him in harm’s way. I understand it’s very upsetting to see your child in a back of a police car. But I honestly didn’t see know wrong in the officer. He was very polite with the mom she lost her cool. Yes offices are known for their dirty work but we have to be mindful in every situation. Know how to approach things in a different way to avoid this type of stuff. The officer did well. At the end of the day we don’t know what the young boy was doing but in life you have to be taught a lesson to learn.
#stopplayingtheblamegame,” Kristi Marie Allen wrote.

“Why was he outside obviously by himself which looks like an early morning. Playing roadside… Anything could have happened to an unsupervised child be it white or black. Ask the question where is the child supervision?” Yolanda Starks, said.
