Tim Kaine’s already talking ‘treason,’ but Lindsey Graham asks best question yet

After so many whiffs and with something they think at least resembles blood in the proverbial water, Dems are chomping at the bit to take a massive bite out of the Trump Administration. So it was no surprise when drama queen Senator Tim Kaine uttered the “T” word – “treason” – regarding Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and the recent controversy surrounding Donald Trump Jr.

But is the Virginia senator biting off more than he can chew?

When asked by reporters about Trump Jr.’s Tuesday email dump containing conversations with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya, emails that confirmed his interest in collecting damaging information on Hillary Clinton (really, what person with a pulse wouldn’t have thought long and hard about that?), Kaine immediately took things to a whole other level:

“To meet with an adversary to try to get information to hijack democracy, the investigation is now more than just an obstruction of justice investigation, it’s more than just a perjury investigation, it’s a treason investigation,” said Kaine.

But when Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, a frequent Trump critic, was interviewed on the matter, he asked perhaps the most pertinent question to have been raised this entire controversy.

“Here’s the question,” Graham said. “Why would they send the Trump campaign to a lady who knew nothing? So, I want to know about that too. It’s kind of an odd way to suggest the Russian government wants to help, by sending you somebody that doesn’t have any evidence at all.”

In other words, it’s one thing to want “opposition research” and be naive enough to take a meeting that perhaps you shouldn’t have taken, a mark of political inexperience, but if the Russian government were truly colluding with the Trump campaign, wouldn’t they have actually provided the “goods?”
