Obama takes break from endless ultra-luxurious vacationing to swipe at Trump

Barack Obama took time out from his endless worldwide ultra-luxurious vacationing to get in a cheap shot against his successor, President Donald Trump.

Not by name, of course… we are talking about Mr. Mom Jeans.

Wrapping up a 10-day Indonesian vacation, Obama spoke in his boyhood hometown of Jakarta and clearly took exception to Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement, smacking the president for a “temporary absence of American leadership,” according to The Hill.

“In Paris, we came together around the most ambitious agreement in history about climate change,” Obama said. “An agreement that even with the temporary absence of American leadership, can still give our children a fighting chance.”

The divisive former president then spoke of togetherness as he cautioned against “an aggressive kind of nationalism” — surely, another jab at Trump.

“The challenges of our times, whether it’s economic inequality, changing climate, terrorism, mass migration; these are really challenges and we’re going to have to confront them together,” Obama said.

Obama addressed a couple of topics getting plenty of attention under the Trump administration: religious freedom and freedom of the press.

After noting that his father “was raised a Muslim,” the ex-president said, “If you are strong in your own faith then you should not be worried about someone else’s faith.”

He also characterized restrictions on the media as intolerance that will lead to “more violence.”

“If we don’t stand up for tolerance and moderation and respect for others, if we begin to doubt ourselves and all that we have accomplished, then much of the progress that we have made will not continue,” Obama said.

“What we will see is more and more people arguing against democracy, we will see more and more people who are looking to restrict freedom of the press, and we’ll see more intolerance, more tribal divisions, more ethnic divisions, and religious divisions and more violence,” he continued.
