At least one Democrat lawmaker is willing to call out the Obama administration for the “serious mistake” of not acting sooner on suspected Russia meddling in the 2016 presidential election.
Appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Rep. Adam Schiff was asked Sunday by host Dana Bash if former President Barack Obama failed in his duty to the nation, framing the inquiry with the assumption that “Vladimir Putin was working to elect President Trump.”
“I think the Obama administration should have done a lot more when it became clear that not only was Russia intervening, but it was being directed at the highest levels of the Kremlin,” Schiff replied.
He would add that “the administration needed to call out Russia earlier, needed to act to deter and punish Russia earlier and that was a very serious mistake.”

Before Trump supporters go praising the top Democrat on the House Intel Committee, bear in mind he’s still a staunch party loyalist.
Referencing a tweet Trump posted on Saturday asking why the Obama administration took no action against Russian interference — see below — Schiff compared President Trump to someone who “knowingly received stolen property.”
Since the Obama Administration was told way before the 2016 Election that the Russians were meddling, why no action? Focus on them, not T!

“I think that was a mistake but I have to contest what President Trump is saying because for Donald Trump who openly egged on the Russians to hack Hillary Clinton’s emails and celebrated every release of stolen documents — to criticize Obama is a bit like someone knowingly receiving stolen property blaming the police for not stopping the theft,” the California lawmaker said.
And you were doing so well there, Congressman Schiff…
