Trump’s attorney takes on confused Todd and hostile Wallace: ‘President IS NOT under investigation!’

Things got fiery as Fox News host Chris Wallace squared off with a lawyer for President Donald Trump.

Attorney Jay Sekulow did his best to explain to Wallace that, to his knowledge, the president is not personally being investigated.

A point that seem to escape the grasp of Wallace, who became confrontational with Sekulow.

The attorney explained that the tweet the president sent in which he said he was under investigation was in response to a Washington Times story that said he was.

But after harping on it, and asking about Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Sekulow, appearing to refer to that story again, explained the president’s position.

“He takes the action that [the Attorney General’s office] recommended and now he’s being investigated by the Department of Justice,” he said. “He’s being investigated for taking the action that the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency who recommended the terminations!”

Wallace jumped at the chance to twist his words.

“You’ve now said he is being investigated after saying [he isn’t],” Wallace said.

“No, he’s not being investigated!” Sekulow fired back.

“You just said he’s being investigated,” Wallace shot back again.

“Let me be crystal clear so you completely understand, we have not received, nor are we aware of any investigation of the president of the United States. Period,” Sekulow said.

Wallace then insisted that the video would prove him correct and talked over Sekulow until he allowed him to respond.

“I do not appreciate you putting words in my mouth, when I’ve been crystal clear that the president is not and has not been under investigation,” the attorney said.

“Well, you don’t know that he’s not under investigation, again sir,” Wallace replied.

“You’re right, Chris, I can’t read the mind of the special prosecutor,” Sekulow said, growing more agitated.

“Okay, well good, we’re in agreement,” Wallace insisted. “You don’t know whether he’s under investigation or not.”

Sekulow said he respects the attorney-client privilege, unlike former FBI Director James Comey.

Sekulow said he didn’t read minds but he understood what Wallace was attempting to do.

“Don’t tell me what I’m trying to do because you don’t know what I’m trying to do,” Wallace shouted. “Actually, what I’m trying to get is a straight answer out of you.”

It was not an easy day for Sekulow as he squared off with the mainstream media on various other programs.

Including NBC’s “Meet The Press” where a “confused” Chuck Todd also attempted to twist Sekulow’s words, though not as confrontationally as Wallace did.

“He is not under investigation by the special counsel,” Sekulow told Todd. “The tweet from the president was in response to the five anonymous sources that were purportedly leaking information to the Washington Post about a potential investigation of the president. As we know of today, the president is not under investigation.”

Apparently, it was a tough answer for Todd to comprehend because he asked the same question three times and kept saying. sarcastically, that he was “confused.”
