Minneapolis mayor gives Trump-bashing speech in a mosque day after terror attack, runs from Fox News

A day after 22 innocent men, women and precious children were slaughtered in Manchester, England, a U.S. mayor gave a state of the city speech in a mosque.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges gave her speech on Tuesday focused, in part, on blasting President Donald Trump and his immigration policies.

“We stand with our Muslim community, as President Trump singles them out for attack and unfairly-targeted policy,” Hodges said, according to CBS.

“When Donald Trump comes after any part of our community, he’ll find 419,000 Minneapolitans and me standing squarely in his way,” she said. “That’s the kind of wall I can support.”

And Fox News’ Pete Hegseth was on hand to question her about it, though she did her best to avoid him.

He wanted to know if the separation of church and state applied to mosques in Minneapolis.

“I’m giving in a mosque today because our Muslim community needs support,” she told Hegseth.

“I don’t know that I’ve given a state of the city (speech) in a church before,” she said. “Our Muslim community needs a lot support right now because one community should not be held responsible for the reprehensible acts of a few members of that community.”

But she ran away from him before answering any questions about President Trump.

And while she didn’t want to talk much to Hegseth, she did use him and Fox News in a fundraising letter she sent out after the confrontation.
