Israeli president takes painful shots at former president Obama during Trump’s trip

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin took what seemed to be two shots, in less than two minutes, at former U.S. President Barack Obama while praising new President Donald Trump.

During a speech on Monday in Israel, the second stop on President Trump’s historic foreign trip, Rivlin said that his country was happy to see that America is back.

“Mr. President, we are happy to see that America is back in the area. America is back again,” Rivlin said.

“You marked the defeating of ISIS as one of your top missions. This is (the) most important objective. Israel will do everything in its power in order to assist you in this mission,” he added before he took another apparent shot at Obama.

“Israel appreciates America’s leadership and your administration in the action you took in Syria,” he said. “There are red lines, as it happened in Syria, that must never be crossed. There is a price that must be paid by those who violate the most basic principles that make us human.”

The “red lines” comment was a thinly veiled swipe at former President Obama.

It was a reference to the former president’s refusal to enforce a red line he drew against the use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government.

Obama famously failed to back his rhetoric with action when the Syrian government attacked its own people with chemical weapons in Ghouta in 2013.

Social media loved the Israeli president’s comments.
