The teen seen throwing a frail, elderly woman into a pool at a wild party turned himself into police after video of the incident went viral.
The woman identified as 68-year-old Nancy James recently had hip surgery when she went to the party urging the rowdy teens to turn down the music.
Uncooperative, and in a mob mentality the teens laughed and taunted her until a 16-year-old, unidentified by name because of his age, picked up James and either fell or slammed her to the ground, before throwing her and a small dog into the pool.
The 16-year-old showed up to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Monday evening with his mom and a lawyer. The teen could face battery charges against an elderly person and was taken to the Broward Regional Juvenile Facility, the Miami Herald reported.
BSO asked for the communities help in finding the teen early Monday and a Crime Stopper’s tip led deputies to identifying the teen. It was then, that the teen turned himself in and muttered “I messed up and I have to own up to it,” according to a police report obtained by the Herald.

The night of the party, James wasn’t the only one to complain about the noise.
“Several unit owners called us, the sheriff’s office was called. One of the ladies on the board of directors went over there to break up the situation and the sheriff’s department took quite a while to get there,” property manager Glen Sugarman told NBC Miami.
“She doesn’t walk that good, you can see that. Like, why would you do that to her?” friend Shay McNair told NBC Miami.
“She was recovering already from what I understand a broken hip from not long ago.”
James is reportedly OK and suffered a bruise on her leg, but was more frightened by the incident than anything.
And who could blame her? Below is a shortened video of the incident. A longer version can be seen here.

James was drenched in water when police arrived, according to the NBC Miami and a police report stated “very frightened and upset.”
James, director of the board for the townhomes, declined to talk to reporters about the incident.
