Former president Obama has supplanted himself back in the public spotlight after remaining hidden since Trump’s Inauguration in January.
In the wake of president Trump and Republicans working to repeal and replace his failing healthcare system, Obama is trying to find any example possible to defend Obamacare.
On Monday night, Jimmy Kimmel admitted to everyone that his newborn son has been battling tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart disease that required an emergency heart surgery at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
Kimmel emotionally added during his monologue that it was the “the longest three hours of my life,” as he sat and waited helplessly to find out if his son was going to live through the surgery or not. Thankfully, Kimmel’s son was able to go home after multiple successful surgeries.

After he thanked all of skilled doctors and nurses for their hard work and the friends and family members who offered their support, Kimmel argued that his situation was the exact reason why lawmakers need to keep many aspects of Obamacare in place, particularly coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.
After the story went viral, Obama stepped in and used Kimmel’s tragedy as a politcal crutch to boast about great he believes Obamacare has been.
Well said, Jimmy. That's exactly why we fought so hard for the ACA, and why we need to protect it for kids like Billy. And congratulations! https://t.co/77F8rZrD3P

Obama wasn’t the only one to use this story as a political tool. Twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also sent Kimmel a tweet that “reminded” everyone of how important it is to keep Obamacare in place.
Watch & prepare to tear up. Thanks @jimmykimmel for sharing your story & reminding us what's at stake w/health care.https://t.co/2kTEeUEG2f

Kimmel’s story is heartfelt and extremely touching, and many people are sympathetic to what he had to go through. The problem is much bigger and politicians like Obama and Clinton use this to push their political rhetoric.
Premiums alone have skyrocketed at a historical pace, putting millions of Americans in a financial crunch if they were to need medical attention.
The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) reported:
Obamacare enrollment is underway, and we’re seeing big increases in health insurance premiums for 2017; they’re rising by an average of 25 percent among 38 states, according to a report released by The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The 25 percent increase is the steepest so far. Last year, premiums for the second-lowest-cost silver plans went up by 7.5 percent on average across 37 states. Among the states relying on HealthCare.gov, the typical number of plans available is declining by more than one-third, from 47 to 30. Competition is falling in all but four of those states.
Outside of the statistics, many users replied to Obama on Twitter about how bad Obamacare has been for them.

Yes, so people can pay for everyone else's healthcare while not being able to choose their own doctor.

We the people pay more when uninsured go to hospital, and then hospital writes off expense, because they can not decline care. Duh…

With Obamacare if I needed surgery, I would be bankrupt. @jimmykimmel is too young 2 recall when people were covered n uninsured were ok 2
