Fox News is searching for a new leadership and sources say it would prefer a woman for the role.
Rupert Murdoch and his sons, Fox News CEO James Murdoch and co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch, have been quietly searching for the next head of the cable news giant, according to sources who spoke to the Hollywood Reporter.
The move comes as rumors are rampant that Fox News wants its co-President Bill Shine out.
Rumors that prompted Fox News star Sean Hannity, whose show Shine used to produce, to talk about a conspiracy at the highest echelons of the network to punish an “innocent man.”
According to the report, the Murdochs are feeling pressure to make good on the promise they made to foster “a workplace based on the values of respect and trust.”
It may be that the Murdochs feel a need to take drastic action after a tumultuous onslaught of sexual harassment allegations from people like Gretchen Carlson, who got the ball rolling, to Andrea Tantaros that led to the ouster of former CEO Roger Ailes.
That was followed by more sexual harassment charges that brought on the firing of the network’s top star, Bill O’Reilly.
